The Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were outmatched by West Lafayette on the road and fell 72-36. Lafayette Jefferson has struggled against West Lafayette recently, as their match on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Lafayette Jefferson's loss came despite strong showings from Amani Byrd and Da'Niyah Johnson. Byrd scored eight points along with three steals, while Johnson scored nine points along with nine rebounds.
West Lafayette was led to victory by Adrianne Tolen and Sarah Werth. Tolen scored 20 points along with five steals, while Werth scored 22 points along with three steals. Tolen has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Molly Andrew, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Lafayette Jefferson has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for West Lafayette, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lafayette Jefferson will square off against Marion at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Marion has now lost 15 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 10. As for West Lafayette, they will head out on the road to take on Tippecanoe Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Tippecanoe Valley is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
