The Melrose-Mindoro Mustangs are taking a road trip to take on the Independence/Gilmanton Indees at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Melrose-Mindoro is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Melrose-Mindoro's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Augusta. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Beavers: they've now won six in a row.

Jayce Stetzer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over 6.2 innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Brett Peterson was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Layne Fry, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Independence/Gilmanton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 9-3 to Bruce.
Chase Back made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double. Dalton Jasin also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Melrose-Mindoro's record now sits at 8-1. As for Independence/Gilmanton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
Independence/Gilmanton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Melrose-Mindoro has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .456. It's a different story for Independence/Gilmanton, though, as they've only averaged .335. Will they be able to contain Melrose-Mindoro's hitters?
Everything went Melrose-Mindoro's way against Independence/Gilmanton in their previous matchup back in April, as Melrose-Mindoro made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
