Lewis continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a triple-double on 22 points, nine assists, and ten steals. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Amijah Nelson, who posted eight points and five steals.
Meanwhile, Western hadn't done well against Sierra Vista recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Friday. Western walked away with a 45-37 win over Sierra Vista. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.
Western found their leader in sophomore Lwaba, who went 7 of 12 on her way to 18 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Lwaba has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Kyra Pace was another key player, going 5 for 7 to rack up 12 points.
They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Western was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sierra Vista only posted three assists.
Somerset Academy Losee pushed their record up to 19-5 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points over those games. As for Western, their record is now 15-7.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Somerset Academy Losee just can't miss this season, having made 50.1% of their field goals per game. It's a different story for Western, though, as they've only made 34.5% of their shots this season. Given Somerset Academy Losee's sizable advantage in that area, Western will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Somerset Academy Losee against Western in their previous matchup back in February of 2020, as the squad secured a 41-12 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Somerset Academy Losee since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
