Richton is 0-6 against Collins since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Richton Rebels will head out on the road to challenge the Collins Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Heidelberg scored an imposing 65 points on Tuesday, Richton still came out on top. Richton took their matchup against Heidelberg 78-65. 78 seems to be a good number for Richton as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Richton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dakota Amos led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten assists. That's the first time this season that Amos posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Dave Woulard, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Collins had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. Everything went their way against Heidelberg as Collins made off with a 69-44 win. Collins has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 24 points or more this season.
Collins got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaylen Willingham out in front who scored 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan White, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Richton and bumps their season record up to 14-7. As for Collins, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Richton have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 30.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Collins struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 26.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Richton took a serious blow against Collins when the teams last played back in February of 2019, falling 71-44. Can Richton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
