The Lake Marion Gators had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Academic Magnet with a 44-39 victory on Friday. The win was just what Lake Marion needed coming off of a 93-33 defeat in their prior contest.
Lake Marion found their leader in underclassman Breion Shivers, who scored 14 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Patrick Guest, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Lake Marion's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-17. As for Academic Magnet, they dropped their record down to 1-23 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Lake Marion does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Academic Magnet will be playing in front of their home fans against the Battling Bishops at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop England presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Raptors in South Carolina (the Battling Bishops are ranked 74th, while the Raptors are ranked 293rd).
