The Springfield Longhorns lost against the McClave Cardinals back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Springfield took a 52-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of McClave. Springfield has not had much luck with McClave recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Springfield lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Colby Batterton, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Batterton hasn't dropped below 15points for six straight games. Colin Swanson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McClave to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tuff Kelley, who dropped a triple-double on 12 points, 20 rebounds, and ten blocks. Another player making a difference was Conner Forgue, who scored 21 points.
Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for McClave, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Springfield won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Primero at 2:00 p.m. on January 12th. McClave will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] at 4:00 p.m. on January 25th.
