The Granby Comets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight defeat. They took a 48-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ocean Lakes. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Granby of the 52-40 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2017.
Ocean Lakes found their leader in underclassman Samara Williams, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 23 rebounds. Williams has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more rebounds the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jasymn Miller, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Granby has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Ocean Lakes, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-13.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Granby will take on the Mighty Bookers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Booker T. Washington has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 14. As for Ocean Lakes, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Commodores at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
