Raymond is on a three-game streak of home wins, while McComb is on a five-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Raymond Rangers will take on the McComb Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Raymond's game was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Richland by a score of 20-7.
Keveonta White and Amodra Moffett were among the main playmakers for Raymond as the former rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries and the latter rushed for 186 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Richland to a paltry 240 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Raymond's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Zander Butler and DeMarrion Williams who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, McComb can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Wingfield 52-0 at home. McComb's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
It was another big night for Jamarcus Pittman, who threw for 210 yards and four touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Pittman is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Fred Wells, who rushed for 38 yards and two touchdowns.
Raymond's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for McComb, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.
Raymond ended up a good deal behind McComb in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, losing 32-14. Will Raymond have more luck at home instead of on the road?
