The Manchester Blue Devils entered their tilt with the Macon County Bulldogs with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Manchester took down Macon County 53-36 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Manchester also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Manchester can attribute much of their success to Macaria Mahone, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mahone has scored all season. Laziya Moody was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aliyah Lake, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Cochran, who scored 11 points.
Manchester's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Macon County, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manchester won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Marion County at 6:00 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Marion County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Friday. Macon County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Greenville at 2:30 p.m. on January 20th. Greenville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 478th, while Macon County is ranked 230th).
