The Flanagan/Woodland Falcons will head out on the road to take on the Heyworth Hornets at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Flanagan/Woodland is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
Flanagan/Woodland suffered their biggest defeat since December 4, 2023 on Saturday. They suffered a tough 62-41 loss at the hands of Tri-Valley. While losing is never fun, Flanagan/Woodland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 491st, while Tri-Valley is ranked 135th).
Despite their loss, Flanagan/Woodland saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Emma Palaschak, who scored 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. Aubry Edens was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds.
Heyworth won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Saturday. They took a serious blow against LeRoy, falling 50-20.
Flanagan/Woodland has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Heyworth, their loss dropped their record down to 5-15.
Flanagan/Woodland lost to Heyworth on the road by a decisive 52-33 margin when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Flanagan/Woodland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
