The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Denver South in their matchups with George Washington: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Denver South saw an underclassman step up: Ka'Niya (KJ) Anderson dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Anderson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Gehring, who scored 15 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead George Washington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Abryanna Alejo Grajeda, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. Alejo Grajeda's trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for four games straight. Another player making a difference was Brittany Booker, who scored 21 points along with three steals.
Denver South's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-6. As for George Washington, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-10.
Denver South will head out on the road to face off against Vista PEAK Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Vista PEAK Prep is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games. As for George Washington, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rangeview at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Rangeview is ranked 117th, while George Washington is ranked 119th).
