The Oxford Prep Griffins can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They blew past Excelsior Classical Academy 79-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Excelsior Classical Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hunter Goss, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 19 rebounds. Goss hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Hill, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds.
Oxford Prep's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Excelsior Classical Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oxford Prep won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Vance Charter at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Vance Charter knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Oxford Prep likes a good challenge. As for Excelsior Classical Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Henderson Collegiate at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Henderson Collegiate has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 191 points over their last three contests.
