The Lamar Thunder were handed a two-point defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Rocky Ford Meloneers on Monday. Lamar took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 65-32 win over Rocky Ford. Given Lamar's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Rocky Ford is ranked 299th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Diego Estrada had a dynamite game for Lamar, scoring 16 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Estrada has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Austin Thacker, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Lamar is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Rocky Ford, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-17.
Lamar won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Centauri at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. Centauri will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Lamar surely won't give up without a fight. Rocky Ford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
