River Valley extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping them down to 2-14. They lost 14-4 to the Purchase Line Red Dragons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-3 on Monday.
Michaela Funyak made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season.
As for Purchase Line, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 15-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games.
On Purchase Line's side, Rylee Mahaffey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mahaffey was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leah Nelson, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Julia Matko, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
As of now, neither River Valley nor Purchase Line have any future games scheduled.
