Big Game from Bowers As St. John the Baptist Fell 39-33
Starting off the list is St. John the Baptist's Maxwell Bowers, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Bowers rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 215 yards and a touchdown on only 19 passes.
St. John the Baptist is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4. Bowers and St. John the Baptist will face off against Holy Cross at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Jack Leary Delivers Best Effort of Season
On Sunday, St. Francis Prep got the W thanks in part to Jack Leary playing the best football he has all season. Leary threw for 228 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. St. Francis Prep is undefeated when Leary posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.
St. Francis Prep has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Leary's next contest is against Christ the King on Sunday, where he'll look to repeat that solid effort.

Kuharski Came Up Big in Xavier's 42-7 Win
Winning always takes teamwork, but on Saturday Jerry Kuharski stepped things up a notch to give Xavier the 'W'. Nobody could stop Kuharski as he rushed for 101 yards and three touchdowns.
Xavier pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Kuharski and Xavier will head out on the road to take on St. Anthony's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Hanoi Nelson Crosses Big Stat Threshold
Xavier was led to victory by Hanoi Nelson, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Saturday. Nelson picked up two sacks and made eight total tackles (4.0 for loss). Thanks to that strong showing, he's now averaging 5.4 total tackles per game.
For the year, Nelson has averaged 5.4 total tackles per game and for the season has 3 sacks. He is looking even better than he did last year: after five games last season, he was only averaging 0.6 total tackles per game.
