The Apache Junction Prospectors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They fell 60-49 to Tempe. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Apache Junction in their matchups with Tempe: they've now lost nine in a row.
Tempe's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nassir Cobbs, who scored 20 points along with three steals. Cobbs is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Alejandro Irizarry-Navarro was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Apache Junction's defeat was their seventh straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-15. As for Tempe, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-14.
Apache Junction and Coronado will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Tempe, they will head out on the road to face off against Dysart at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dysart knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 games -- so hopefully Tempe likes a good challenge.
