On Thursday, Eagle earned a 63-54 victory over Roy. Given Eagle's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 13th in Idaho, while Roy is ranked 71st in Utah), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Eagle had a senior duo take command as Miguel Taylor scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals and Cal Huish scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. That's the first time this season that Huish scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Pugh, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Roy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dahlen Pontius, who scored 13 points along with five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Colby Frokjer, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Roy were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Eagle's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Roy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
Eagle won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sky View at 6:20 p.m. on December 15th. Sky View is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.6 points per game. Roy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Shelley at 3:00 p.m. on December 15th.
