Poteau earned some more postseason success in their game on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 40-7 margin over Cache. The Pirates' win was all the more impressive since Cache was averaging only 18 points allowed on the season.
The matchup started off well for the Pirates, whose offense put up 27 first-half points. Meanwhile, Cache couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 27 to nothing heading into the break. The Poteau defense was impenetrable in the third quarter, shutting them out and essentially clinching the contest.
The victory (their 11th in a row) raised Poteau's record to 11-1. The Bulldogs' overall record now falls to 8-3.
Poteau will take on Wagoner in each of the teams' third playoff game next week. The stakes are high as both of those teams are all in, each fighting to extend its postseason success. Cache's playoff loss brings an end to their season.
