It was a good run, but the Idalia Wolves unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 39-31 to Wiggins. The contest was a 21-21 toss-up at halftime, but Idalia couldn't quite close it out.
Despite the defeat, Idalia saw an underclassman step up: Brigette Kite scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Kite continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Jaylyn Kechter was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Idalia struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Leading Wiggins to victory were Taelynn Epple and Kennedy Kerr. Epple scored ten points along with seven rebounds, while Kerr scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Kerr has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Idalia's defeat ended a 13-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-4. As for Wiggins, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.
Idalia will head out on the road to face off against Stratton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Stratton is coming into the matchup with seven straight wins at home, so Idalia is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. Wiggins will take on Wray at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
