The South Lake Eagles''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Olympia, falling 28-0. While losing is never fun, South Lake can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 367th, while Olympia is ranked 81st).
Olympia can attribute much of their success to Juan Gainous, who threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 14.6 yards per attempt. Joshua Evans was another key contributor, picking up 97 receiving yards and a touchdown.
South Lake's loss was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-2 Lake Minneola and 7-3 St. Cloud (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 58.9% over those games). As for Olympia, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
South Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Olympia will be playing in front of their home fans against Dr. Phillips at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
