Even though the Albert Gallatin Colonials have not done well against the Belle Vernon Leopards recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Albert Gallatin narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Belle Vernon 70-67. The victory was all the more spectacular given Albert Gallatin's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 357th, while Belle Vernon is ranked 112th).
Albert Gallatin got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Blake White out in front who scored 25 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The game was White's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shymere Wilson, who scored 22 points.
Albert Gallatin now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Belle Vernon, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-3.
Albert Gallatin will challenge Southmoreland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Belle Vernon, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Elizabeth Forward at 7:00 p.m.
