After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tri County, the Pawnee City Indians were happy to have found some success on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 41-38 victory over Sterling. For Pawnee City, this counts as revenge for the 32-23 loss the Jets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Pawnee City's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emalyse Gottula, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Neveah Blecha was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Pawnee City's win bumped their record up to 2-15. As for Sterling, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-10.
Pawnee City will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Eagles on February 6th. As for Sterling, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons on Tuesday. Freeman's defense has only allowed 27.6 points per game this season, so the Jets' offense will have their work cut out for them.
