Basketball Recap: Kevin Yeghoian's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Antelope over Bagdad

Antelope came up into this matchup off a tough 25-point defeat last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Bagdad Sultans by a score of 43-41 on Thursday. The Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sultans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kevin Yeghoian, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Yeghoian has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more boards the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Trane Figueroa, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Antelope and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Bagdad, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3.

Antelope and Maryvale Prep will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. As for Bagdad, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against San Pasqual Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Bagdad is facing San Pasqual Valley at the right time seeing as San Pasqual Valley is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
