After four games on the road, Lecanto is heading back home. The Lecanto Panthers and the Gulf Buccaneers will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Gulf took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Lecanto, who comes in off a win.
A well-balanced attack led Lecanto over Nature Coast Tech in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lecanto blew Nature Coast Tech out of the water with a 55-14 final score. With Lecanto ahead 27-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Lecanto found their leader in underclassman Bryleigh Florio, who scored 17 points along with eight steals. Florio is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Xena Bellamy, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Gulf was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 54-50 to Berkeley Prep.
Lecanto is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Gulf, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.
