Baseball Game Preview: Bishop Rosecrans Bishops vs. Fisher Catholic Irish

The Bishop Rosecrans Bishops are taking a road trip to challenge the Fisher Catholic Irish at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Bishop Rosecrans is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Bishop Rosecrans made easy work of Catholic Central and carried off a 12-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bishops, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Hayden Perdue was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Coen Grandstaff was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three doubles, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Kohen Harris also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Bishop Rosecrans kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Fisher Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grove City Christian.

Bishop Rosecrans is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Fisher Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Everything went Bishop Rosecrans' way against Fisher Catholic in their previous meeting on April 1st, as Bishop Rosecrans made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bishops since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
