The Servite Friars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher  on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Mater Dei on the road  and fell  82-45. While losing is never fun, Servite can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings  (they are ranked 287th, while Mater Dei is ranked fourth).
  Cj Landazabal and  Jake Schutt certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss.  Landazabal  scored four points along with five  assists and five  steals, while  Schutt  scored eight points along with six  rebounds.  Vladimir Prokopiv was another key contributor,  scoring five points.
 Mater Dei's win  was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from   Blake Davidson, who  dropped  a double-double on 20 points and 13  rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of  Owen Verna, who  scored 17 points along with five  rebounds and two  steals.
 Servite has  not been sharp recently, as they've  lost nine of their last ten contests,  which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season. As for Mater Dei, they pushed their record up to 23-2 with that  win, which was their 15th straight  at home dating back to last season.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Servite will take on Orange Lutheran at 7:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Orange Lutheran is coming into the  game on a five-game losing streak. As for Mater Dei, they won't have much time to rest: their next  contest is against Los Alamitos at 7:30  p.m.  on January 27th. Los Alamitos has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 2,080 points over their last 25 matches.
