If the Village Vikings were feeling good off their 63-30 takedown of the Incarnate Word Academy Falcons last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Village lost to the Apaches on the road by a decisive 68-51 margin on Friday. Village has struggled against the Apaches recently, as their game on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Village still got an impressive performance from Emily Zaccardo, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. Mila Rossini was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Antonian Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kyzarriah Fox, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Fox is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaniyah Fox, who scored 19 points along with three steals and three blocks.
Village's defeat dropped their record down to 22-11. As for Antonian Prep, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 29-7.
Village will head out on the road to face off against the Shamrocks at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Incarnate Word will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 715th, while the Vikings are ranked 287th). As for Antonian Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Pius X is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
