Baseball Recap: Discovery Canyon Wins Going Away Against the Classical Academy

Discovery Canyon barely beat The Classical Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Thunder were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Titans on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Thunder, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Carson Seeley made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Seeley was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Discovery Canyon got a great performance from Pierce Hafferkamp as he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Hafferkamp has posted since back in March.

Back at the plate, Nate Singleton was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Luke Jensen also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Discovery Canyon and bumps their season record up to 12-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for The Classical Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Discovery Canyon will square off against Palmer Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunder are facing the Bears at the right time seeing as the Bears are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for The Classical Academy, they will face off against Lamar at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
