After a string of eight wins, the Quitman Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 50-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Jones. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Quitman in their matchups with West Jones: they've now lost three in a row.
Quitman's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was AUDRIANA HARRIS, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds. The matchup was HARRIS's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was AALIYAH NIXON, who scored 10 points along with 5 assists.
Quitman's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 8-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for West Jones, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Quitman will head out on the road to face off against Heidelberg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Jones, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jim Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
