After both having extra time off, the Beekmantown Eagles and the Peru Nighthawks will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Last Thursday, Beekmantown made easy work of Potsdam and carried off a 12-2 win. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

Steven Bronson was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 16 over 5.1 innings pitched. Those 16 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Logan Estes, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Hunter Adams was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.
Beekmantown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Peru put another one in the bag last Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Moriah a 13-0 shutout. Give the Nighthawks' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
Like Beekmantown, Peru also got a great game from a two-way player: Jake Frechette. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Frechette was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Peru let Deacon Whitmarsh and Matt Trombley run wild. Whitmarsh went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Trombley went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalib Smith, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
The victory made it two in a row for Beekmantown and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Peru, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Beekmantown has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Peru struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
