Monta Vista barely beat Del Mar the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Matadors put the hurt on the Dons with a sharp 15-3 win on Saturday. The Matadors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by 12 runs or more this season.

Tim Yin was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Monta Vista let Mikey Owings and Joseph Murai run wild. Owings scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while Murai scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, Owings posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Van Chow was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Monta Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Monta Vista is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Del Mar, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-11.

Coming up, Monta Vista will be playing in front of their home fans against Cupertino at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Matadors are on a three-game streak of home wins, the Pioneers a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind. As for Del Mar, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Prospect at 4:00 p.m. on the 15th. The Dons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
