The Pueblo South Colts won the last time they faced the Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs, and things went their way on Friday too. Pueblo South enjoyed a cozy 63-45 win over Pueblo Centennial. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Pueblo South.
It was another big night for Maurice Austin, who scored 40 points along with nine rebounds and eight steals. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Pueblo South's points. Another player making a difference was Jeremy Duran, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Pueblo Centennial lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Landen Lenn, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Lenn continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Adyn Jara, who scored nine points.
The victory got Pueblo South back to even at 7-7. As for Pueblo Centennial, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pueblo South will square off against Pueblo County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pueblo Centennial, they will head out on the road to challenge Pueblo West at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Logan Montgomery and Jeffrey Valdez.
