The Southern Alamance Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of East Chapel Hill by a score of 46-44. While losing is never fun, Southern Alamance can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 533rd, while East Chapel Hill is ranked 236th).
When it comes to explaining why Southern Alamance lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tyler Moore. Despite the final result, he shot 4-for-5 from deep and dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Moore has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Liam Forester was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Isaiah Styron was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with three steals for East Chapel Hill. Styron is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Makai Rhodes, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Southern Alamance bumped their record down to 1-3 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for East Chapel Hill, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Southern Alamance will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Orange at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Orange focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday. As for East Chapel Hill, they will head out on the road to face off against Durham Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Durham Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.2 points per game.
