Clovis West and Clovis are an even 5-5 against one another  since November of 2017, but  not for long. The Golden Eagles will head out to  face off against the Cougars  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Clovis West is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 26  points per game  this season.
On Friday, Clovis West needed a bit of extra time to put away Clovis North. They secured  a  30-24 W over the Broncos. The score was all tied up  21-21 at the break, but the Golden Eagles were the  better team in the second half.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clovis West to victory, but perhaps none more so than   Jamar (JJ) Howard, who threw for 237 yards and a pair of  touchdowns, and also rushed for 42 yards and one  TD. That's the most  rushing yards  Howard has posted since back in August of 2024.  Julius (JuJu) Sanders also helped with two scores in total.
 Another reason for the win was Clovis West's imposing  defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess:  Elijah Amatt,  Zachary Fortier,  and  Kamakana Corpuz, who each picked up one  sack apiece. Another thorn in Clovis North's side was  Amatt, who picked up  a  sack and made ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile,  Clovis unfortunately witnessed the end of their  five-game winning streak on Friday. They took  a  61-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Central East. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game  last Friday (42), the Cougars still had to take the loss.
 Clovis West will need to focus on slowing down  James Curoso, one of several Clovis players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 117 yards and three  touchdowns, and also picked up 104 receiving yards and a pair of  TDs. Curoso has been hot, having  posted two or more  rushing touchdowns the last six times he's  played.  Israel Briggs did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 69 receiving yards.
 Clovis West's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Clovis, their  loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-2.
 Clovis West came up short against Clovis in their previous matchup  back in November of 2024, falling  14-10. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
