Softball Recap: Bishop Amat Drops Highest Score of Season Against West Covina

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Amat). Everything went their way against the West Covina Bulldogs on Friday as Bishop Amat made off with a 22-3 victory. With that win, the Lancers brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Bishop Amat let Kayla Johnson and Julyssa Jimenez run wild. Johnson went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Jimenez went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Johnson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Katherine Vasquez, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Bishop Amat always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Covina only posted an OBP of .350.

The victory was the third in a row for Bishop Amat, bringing their record up to 9-9. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for West Covina, they now have a losing record of 5-6-1.
