Buford suffered their biggest defeat yet this season last Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 47-20 loss at the hands of York Prep.
Meanwhile, Chesterfield put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They breezed by North Central on the road to the tune of 51-14. Given Chesterfield's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while North Central is ranked 269th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chesterfield relied on the efforts of Terrahjah Robinson, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and four steals, and Kierra Diggs, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Diggs hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Trinity Turnage, who scored six points.
Buford has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Chesterfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Buford was dealt a bruising 47-20 defeat at the hands of Chesterfield in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Buford was down 30-10.
