East Forsyth has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Etowah Eagles at 1:00 p.m.
Last Friday, East Forsyth ended up a good deal behind George Walton Academy and lost 46-31. While losing is never fun, East Forsyth can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while George Walton Academy is ranked 31st).
Etowah has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 31 points or more this season. They blew past Cambridge 53-22 at home. The win was nothing new for Etowah as they're now sitting on three straight.
Savannah Aparicio and Megan Reed were among the main playmakers for Etowah as the former scored 13 points along with three steals and the latter scored 14 points along with six rebounds. The game was Aparicio's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Kennedy Johnson was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds.
East Forsyth has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season. As for Etowah, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
Everything went East Forsyth's way against Etowah in their previous matchup back in December of 2021 as East Forsyth made off with a 50-29 win. Will East Forsyth repeat their success, or does Etowah have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
