A big 21-point third quarter helped carry
Manatee (Bradenton, Fla.)
to a 41-6 victory over
Miramar (Fla.)
on Saturday.
The Hurricanes scored on
a touchdown pass by Cord Sandberg
,
a defensive touchdown
and
Walters's touchdown run
in the quarter.
The two teams were tied at six heading into halftime. Manatee took the lead
for good on a Sandberg's touchdown pass with 9:00 remaining in the third
quarter.
Sandberg stood out for the Bradenton school in the win.
The senior quarterback
threw two touchdowns
and
ran for one touchdown.
Led by Derrick Calloway,
the Hurricanes came into the game surrendering 14.0 points per game.
The Patriots's lone touchdown came on a 11-yard pass from Nick Jeanty to
Sean Avant in the first quarter.
In a non-conference game tilt next week Manatee (2-0) takes on Riverview, and
Miramar (0-1) will go up against Blanche Ely in a non-conference game.
