This season hasn't been kind to The Sound Christian Lions, who are still winless after their eighth matchup. They had to suffer through a rough 80-0 loss at the hands of Chief Leschi. Sound Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Chief Leschi apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2015.
Chief Leschi's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joseph Earl led the charge by throwing for 249 yards and five touchdowns on only eight passes. Earl is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Yadiel (mickey) Lara, who picked up 127 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Sound Christian's loss was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-1 Naselle and 10-3 Naselle (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 59.7% over those games). As for Chief Leschi, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sound Christian will face off against Muckleshoot Tribal at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Muckleshoot Tribal is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Chief Leschi, they will head out on the road to face off against Naselle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Naselle is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
