Basketball Recap: Marissa Mayo and Jayslin Henderson Secure Win for Bainbridge-Guilford

Bainbridge-Guilford won the last time they faced Unadilla Valley and things went their way on Friday too. The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats were the clear victor by a 54-30 margin over the Unadilla Valley Storm. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Storm are ranked 330th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bainbridge-Guilford was led to victory by Jayslin Henderson and Marissa Mayo. Henderson went 6 of 14 on her way to 16 points in addition to eight boards and five steals, while Mayo posted 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Mayo is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalyn Winans, who had eight points.

Bainbridge-Guilford has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.5 points per game. As for Unadilla Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bainbridge-Guilford will face off against Delaware Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Unadilla Valley, they will welcome Unatego at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
