The Northeast Lauderdale Trojans will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Quitman Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on December 29th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Northeast Lauderdale earned a 61-54 victory over Southeast Lauderdale. The victory was just what Northeast Lauderdale needed coming off of a 55-27 defeat in their prior game.
Quitman has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 29 points or more this season. They blew past Kemper County 63-24 at home. Given Quitman's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while Kemper County is ranked 93rd), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
AUDRIANA HARRIS was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points. The contest was her third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was AIYANNA DEAR, who scored 12 points.
Northeast Lauderdale's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Quitman, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-3.
Northeast Lauderdale was dealt a bruising 56-23 defeat at the hands of Quitman in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Northeast Lauderdale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
