South Allegheny extended their winning streak to nine on Monday, bumping their season record up to 12-1 in the process. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Apollo Ridge Vikings. Considering the Gladiators have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Ava Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
In other batting news, Cadence McBride was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Sydney Gordon, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
