Sullivan had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 11-8 to make it four. They fell 12-7 to the Northview Knights. The Golden Arrows were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Sullivan saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mylee Vandevender, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another was Rachel Eslinger, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
As for Northview, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.
On Northview's side, Maggie Krause was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Krause has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Chloe Batchelor and Kaylee Krause did most of the damage at the plate: Batchelor got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Kaylee got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. What's more, Krause posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April. Mackie Pell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Sullivan and Northview could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Golden Arrows (ranked 73rd) will meet West Vigo (ranked 11th) at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Northview will take on Edgewood at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (125 vs. 46).
