TAPPS Division III District 3 recap October 1, 2013
First Baptist added to the longest winning streak in TAPPS Division III District 3 this week by beating Pittsburg, 51-42. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
First Baptist moved up to 354 from 471 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Jason Lovvorn's team was able to move up by defeating the Pirates 51-42.
Braxton Berry threw for 581 yards and 8 touchdowns. He went 22-32 with 2 interceptions.
Caine Robbins had a great week catching the football as Garland Christian Academy defeated Coram Deo Academy. He caught 12 passes for 362 yards.
Justen Tatum was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 14 carries, he ran for 96 yards as the Saints bested Coram Deo Academy. Jaylin Nelson also contributed to the rushing game with 91 yards on the ground.
Garland Christian Academy's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Swordsmen feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Berry has thrown for 2,466 yards and 30 touchdowns this season, while Robbins has 44 catches for 1,259 yards. Berry also leads the league in rushing with 415 yards.
Highlands fell to Legacy Christian Academy 42-13 last week, the largest margin of any game.
