After losing to the Flagler Panthers the last time they met, the Lone Star Longhorns decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Lone Star strolled past Flagler with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 57-42. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lone Star.
Lone Star found their leader in underclassman Jade Kuntz, who almost dropped a triple-double on 17 points, ten rebounds, and nine steals. Kuntz has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Aleighcea Kuntz was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Flagler's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lexi Witt, who scored 16 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Witt has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Belle Schier, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
The win got Lone Star back to even at 8-8. As for Flagler, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.
Lone Star will be playing at home against Prairie at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lone Star focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday. As for Flagler, they will head out on the road to face off against Otis at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
