Jefferson County has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the South Pike Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Jefferson County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while South Pike is ranked 106th).
On Tuesday, things could have been worse for Jefferson County, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 56-37 loss to Port Gibson. Jefferson County was down 46-24 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Meanwhile, South Pike didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Wesson on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 42-37 win.
Jefferson County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. As for South Pike, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-6.
Jefferson County came up short against South Pike in their previous meeting on January 9th, falling 43-34. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of South Pike's Alaysha Williams, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
