The Pipestone Arrows's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight loss. They took a 59-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Castlewood. While losing is never fun, Pipestone can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 329th in Minnesota, while Castlewood is ranked 95th in South Dakota).
Castlewood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Presley Knecht led the charge by scoring 19 points. Knecht continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Cydni Kudrna, who scored 11 points.
Pipestone's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Castlewood, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pipestone and Luverne will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Luverne is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Castlewood, they will head out on the road to face off against Colman-Egan at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
