After flying high against the Logansport Berries last Wednesday, the Rochester Zebras came back down to earth. Rochester took a 55-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Manchester on Saturday. Rochester was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Manchester apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Rochester's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella McCarter, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. McCarter has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Wilson, who scored 11 points along with five assists and three steals.
Manchester was led to victory by Emma Walker and Brookelynn Buzzard. Walker dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Buzzard scored 23 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Molly Schannep was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Rochester has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for Manchester, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-6.
Rochester will look to defend their home court on Monday against Lewis Cass at 7:00 p.m. Lewis Cass is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Manchester, they will take on Bluffton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Bluffton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Saturday.
