Monett never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on the New Covenant Academy Warriors with a sharp  10-0 win. The Cubs not only won  on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win  since April 21st (when they won  10-0).
 Aidan Clapper made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He  tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. He also  tossed a  walk, which is notable because Monett is 3-1 when he allows at  most  one  walk, but 8-10 otherwise. Clapper was also solid in the batter's box,  earning two  runs and four  stolen bases. That's the most  runs  he has posted since back in April.
 In other pitching news,  Carson Burtrum looked comfortable as he  kept things locked down with   no  earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

 Back at the plate,  Miles Young was  excellent,  going 1-for-3 with four  RBI and two  runs. Monett is undefeated when  Young posts two or  more  runs, but 7-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of  Brayden Seitz, who  got on base  in all four of his plate appearances with three  runs and one  double.
 Monett  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Covenant Academy struck out 11 times.
Monett's victory  ended  a  four-game drought at home  and  bumped them up to 11-11. As for New Covenant Academy, their defeat  ended  a  three-game streak of away wins  and  brought them to 15-12.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monett will square off against Aurora at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday. As for New Covenant Academy, they will face off against Greenwood at 3:00  p.m.  on Saturday.
