The Foothill Trojans were the 65-41 winner over the Arvin Bears when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Foothill took a 58-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bears.
Despite the loss, Foothill had strong showings from Gio Cruz, who shot 4-for-7 from downtown and almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds, and Alejandro Pacheco, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Cruz continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Diego Cabrera, who scored 11 points.
Arvin's win on Thursday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Miguel Damian, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Damian has scored all season. Xzavier Pierson-Brooks was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Foothill dropped their record down to 2-18 with that defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Arvin, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Foothill will square off against the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Arvin, they will head out on the road to square off against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mira Monte is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
